The Princess Mountains

Country Dalaborn
Highest Point Mount Anne Marie (4,900 meters)

The Princess Mountains are a range of mountains in the east of Dalaborn that form a natural border between Dalaborn and the borderer countries. They separate Dalaborn from the rest of continental Kodiak.

Geography[]

Politically, the Princess Mountains are part of the following provinces of Dalaborn, from north to south: Haufman, Vieten and Autrois.

Physiograpically, the Princess Mountains are typically divided into three sections: the Southern, the Central, and the Northern Princess Mountains.

Geology[]

The Princess Mountains are very old : their sediments were formed during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras.

The southern part of the Princess Mountains consists largely of granite and gneissose rocks, while in the northern part the granite peaks are flanked by layers of limestone. The massive and unworn character of the chain comes from its abundance of granite, which is particularly resistant to erosion, as well as weak glacial development.

Landscape[]

Conspicuous features of Princess Mountains scenery are:

  • the absence of great lakes.
  • the rarity and great elevation of passes.
  • the large number of the mountain torrents locally called gaves, which often form lofty waterfalls.
  • the frequency with which the upper end of a valley assumes the form of a semicircle of precipitous cliffs, called a cirque.
